Seasonal extrema of sea surface temperature in CMIP6 models
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract. CMIP6 model sea surface temperature (SST) seasonal extrema averaged over 1981–2010 are assessed against the World Ocean Atlas (WOA18) observational climatology. We propose a mask to identify and exclude regions of large differences between three commonly used climatologies (WOA18, WOCE-Argo Global Hydrographic climatology (WAGHC) Hadley Centre Sea Ice Surface Temperature data set (HadISST)). The biases in SST largely consistent with annual mean biases. However, amplitude spatial pattern bias vary seasonally 20 models assessed. Large variations occur eastern boundary upwelling regions, polar North Pacific equatorial Atlantic. These results demonstrate importance evaluating performance not simply properties. Models greater vertical resolution their ocean component typically better representation extrema, particularly maximum SST. No significant relationship horizontal is found.

analysis of sea surface current in sea surface temperature images
oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. for instance sea surface temperature (sst) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. the purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...
متن کاملInvestigation of Long Term Trend of Spatio-Temporal changes of Sea Surface Temperature in Oman Sea
Considering the vast application of sea surface temperature in climatic and oceanic investigations, this parameter was studied in Oman Sea from 1986 to 2015. The SST was surveyed using trend analysis and Global and local Moran’s I spatial autocorrelation. In trend analysis, the Mann-Kendall test was used to determine the trend of SST changes and the Sen's Estimator method was used to examine th...

The interaction between sea and atmosphere has profound effects on the regions climate. Meanwhile, the sea surface temperature is considered as one of the most effective components of water bodies, and the controller of many atmospheric behaviors. Because of the importance of sea surface temperatures effects on atmospheric elements and also given the role of global warming on land and sea surfa...
متن کاملRole of Net Surface Heat Flux in Seasonal Variations of Sea Surface Temperature in the Tropical Atlantic Ocean
The present study used a new net surface heat flux (Qnet) product obtained from the Objective Analyzed Air–Sea Fluxes (OAFlux) project and the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) to examine two specific issues—one is to which degree Qnet controls seasonal variations of sea surface temperature (SST) in the tropical Atlantic Ocean (20°S–20°N, east of 60°W), and the other is ...
